Overview

The Inflammatory Bowel Disease Group (IBD Group) at Mount Sinai Hospital is an interdisciplinary program dedicated to the expert care of patients and families coping with Crohn's disease and Ulcerative Colitis.

Patient Care

The Centre provides both ambulatory (outpatient) care and inpatient services (in a uniquely combined medical and surgical IBD unit), with the support of a dynamic team of health care professionals, including: gastroenterology, colorectal surgery, psychiatry, pharmacy, dietary, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, enterostomal therapy, nursing and social work.

Community

The Centre extends its support to the community with outreach programs for both health care professionals and patients. Programs include annual educational IBD Update nights for patients and families, and two support groups: an evening support network and a daytime support group. Community IBD outreach programs are offered along with Mount Sinai Hospital IBD nursing courses.

Research

The IBD group has a clinical research team dedicated to pursuing advances in the understanding of the causes of IBD and treatments for the medical and surgical management of IBD.
