Dr. Robert MaunderDr. Maunder is a staff psychiatrist at Mount Sinai Hospital and Head of The Integrated Medicine Project, a program of research into aspects of health that lie at the interface of psychology, psychiatry and physical medicine. His clinical practice is focused on the psychiatric care of people with gastrointestinal illness: interventions to improve normal coping with the challenges presented by gastrointestinal disease and treatment of the psychiatric illnesses which sometimes occur together with gastrointestinal disease and complicate its treatment. His research interests are in the role of stress in inflammatory diseases, the interaction of genetic and environmental factors in the course of inflammatory bowel disease and the impact of interpersonal relationships on health.
